Science and Technology Counsellors:
The Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation of MAECI relies on a network of scientific and technological experts to showcase and capitalize on the sectors of excellence in scientific and technological research and support the progress of Italian companies operating in advanced technology sectors.

The Network of Science and Technology Counsellors in China:

BEIJING - Prof. Alessandra Guidi

has been appointed from July 2021 Science and Technology Counsellor at the Embassy of Italy to the People’s Republic of China. She is Full Professor of Food Inspection at the University of Pisa, where she has held the position of Vice Rector for Internationalization. She also headed the International PhD Program in “Inspective and Sanitary Concerns in Animal Production in Exchanges between the EU and PRC” and the Sino Italian Center for Food Safety, result of a Cooperation between Tuscany Region and Guangxi Province, based at the University of Pisa and Guangxi University in Nanning.

SHANGHAI - Prof. Roberto Pagani

has been appointed from August 2016 Science and Technology Counsellor at the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai. He is Full Professor of Building Technology at Politecnico di Torino in Italy and, between 2012-2015, has been EU Co-Director of the Europe China Clean Energy Centre (EC2), based at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He has been visiting Professor at the Curtin University in Perth (W. Australia) and at the Harbin Institute of Technology (PRC). He has been developing research and demonstration projects on renewable energies and sustainable urbanization in Europe since the 1990s. He is an independent expert and evaluator for the European Commission, Directorate General for Energy.

CHONGQING - Dr. Lorenzo Gonzo

has been appointed from September 2016 Science and Technology Counsellor at the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing. With a degree in Experimental Physics (University of Trento) and a PhD in Condensed Matter Physics (Technische Universität Muenchen, Germany), Dr. Gonzo has been Senior Researcher at Fondazione Bruno Kessler in Trento. During his career, he has been coordinating R&D activities in the fields of material science and integrated sensors collaborating at the international level with research Institutes and Universities. From 2010 to 2012 he has been working at FBK’s TT Office and from 2012 to 2016 has been serving as scientific expert at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Rome.
