Payment is made directly to the IVAC Visa Application Centre at the time of submission of the visa application. The applicable fees are listed below.
For visa applications submitted directly at the Consulate, payment must be made either by POS (Alipay QR Code only) or in cash.
The visa fee is based on the “Quarterly Consular Exchange Rate” and changes at the beginning of each quarter (January 1, March 1, June 1, October 1).
For Schengen Visas (Type “C”), payment is made in RMB at IVAC – please consult the Visa Application Centre website.
For National Visas (Type “D”), payment is made in RMB at IVAC – please consult the Visa Application Centre website.
For Schengen Visas (Type “C”):
Adults: 90 euros
Children between 6 and 12 years of age: 45 euros (payment in RMB at IVAC)
National Visas (Type “D”): 116 euros / National Visas for Study Purposes (Type “D”): 50 euros

Citizens of countries that have concluded visa facilitation agreements with the European Union are subject to a visa fee of €35 (payment in RMB). The list of eligible countries is available on the European Commission website.
For applications submitted through the outsourced IVAC Visa Application Centre, an additional service fee will be charged:
- RMB 62 for ADS visas;
- RMB 78 for all other visa categories.
Visa Fees Are Waived for the Following Categories of Applicants:
- Children under six years of age;
- School pupils, students, postgraduate students, and accompanying teachers travelling for study purposes or educational training;
- Third-country researchers travelling for scientific research purposes, in accordance with Recommendation 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005, aimed at facilitating the issuance by Member States of uniform short-stay visas for researchers travelling within the Community for scientific research;
- Representatives of non-profit organisations aged 25 years or under participating in seminars, conferences, sporting, cultural, or educational events organised by non-profit organisations;
- The following family members of EU/EEA citizens, when accompanying or joining the EU/EEA citizen, as defined by Directive 2004/38/EC and Italian Legislative Decree No. 30/2007:
a) the spouse;
b) the partner who has entered into a registered partnership with an EU citizen under the legislation of a Member State, where the legislation of the host Member State treats registered partnerships as equivalent to marriage and subject to the conditions laid down by the relevant legislation of the host Member State;
c) direct descendants under the age of 21 or dependent descendants, including those of the spouse or partner;
d) dependent direct ascendants (parents and grandparents), including those of the spouse or partner (parents-in-law); - Holders of diplomatic passports.
